"U" goes through to the quarterfinals

Universitatea Cluj advanced to the League Cup quarterfinals after beating Petrolul Ploești by a score of 1-0.
Mihai Teja's players managed to end a 5 game winless run against Petrolul with their win in their home debut. The only goal in the game was scored by Lorand Kovacs in the 30th minute after a great pass from "U"'s new captain, Lemnaru.
Before the game, centerbacks Zsolt Szilágyi and Alin Rațiu were congratulated for their careers as they both retired during the offseason. Even though they're retired, both players will be involved with the club in the future.
Four of "U"'s transfers during the offseason (Petar Jovanovic, Nicolae Muşat, Raul Costin and Nuno Viveiros) were starters in yesterday's match. Five of last season's starters (Robert Veselovsky, Emil Ducu Ninu, Dan Mihai Bucşă, Karim Boutadjine and Valentin Ionuţ Lemnaru) started yesterday's match as well.
Nicolae Mușat returned to "U" after having played for the club during the 2009-2010 season.
"U"'s best chances came from Raul Costin (in the 14th minute) and Lemnaru (In the 57th and 89th minute).
Kovacs is "U"'s first scorer in the 2014-2015 season as well as the first to see a yellow card. Valentin Lemnaru, on the other hand, got "U"'s first assist of the season.

"U"'s next match in the League Cup will be in the winter during Liga 1's winter break.
