They lost again in the semifinals

 Universitatea's rugby team played in the semifinals of the Romanian Cup against the cup holders, CSM Ştiinţa Baia Mare.

The game was played on the "Tineretului" area in Gura Humorului, with Emanuel Gorodea as the main ref and Cladiu Lucian Clapon
and Mihai Stuparu side judges; all three from Iaşi.
 
The students had the ball first and were able to score after 9 minutes through Ionuţ Dimofte who converted a penalty kick."U" led up 
until the 30th minute, when Baia Mare tied it up at 3-3, the halftime score. This score reflected the run of play in the 1st half even though
"U"'s 15 players had to go against 18 players, seeing as the referee's decisions were contested by the fans at the game.
 
Half time turned out to help Baia Mare as they took the lead after 2 minutes through Wiringi, who scored a try, making it 10-3. After another 20 minutes, he scored another try and converted the free kick too.
 
The last 10 minutes was an all out assault from "U", but Gorodea, the referee, turned out to be "U"'s man of the match as he whistled for a penalty try that let "U" reduce the deficit to 17-10 through Dimofte. The final score was 17-10 for Baia Mare, and as a result "U" has to wait another year to try to get to the final.
 
At the end of the match, Coach Bogdan Cantor commented for ucluj.ro: "Congratulations to the boys for the attitude that they had. This is the end of another season; we expect next season to be much harder, but better for us as well. We'll try to bring in 2 or 3 more players, but hold on to the current team we have as well because, like they've shown today on the field, they can play up to their expectations and play together as a team. I congratulate them once more and hope that next year we'll manage to get better results!"
