Univeristatea Cluj lost their match in the 11th round of Liga 1 away to Steaua București by a score of 4-1. 

Papp put the champions ahead in the 12th minute with an overhead kick right next to Mușat. Two minutes later, Gravenberch saw his shot blocked by Szukala for a corner. Following "U"'s chance, Steaua began to put more pressure on "U" as Keșeru hit the crossbar in the 18th minute. Their pressure paid off as Szukala doubled their lead in the 31st minute with a header following a cross from Keșeru. Universitatea tried to get back into the match before the half with Gravenberch creating two great chances in the 42nd and 44th minutes. The former chance saw "U"'s striker shoot wide of Arlauskis' post while the latter saw him win the ball from Steaua's goalkeeper on the edge of the field and cross it to Lungu, who's shot sailed over the bar. "U" had another chance 3 minutes into first half injury time as Ceppelini's shot following a cross from Mușat was blocked by Latovlevici.

After halftime, the black and whites tried to cut the deficit through Mengolo, whose shot was deflected by Szukala into Arlauskis' hands. The "students" managed to score in the 59th minute through their captain, Dan Bucșa, whose sensational volley from 16 meters beat Arlauskis. The champions managed to restore their 2 goal lead six minutes later as Adi Popa scored Steaua's third following a gaffe from Škvorc. Veselovsky kept "U" in the match as he saved consecutive shots from Keșeru and Tănase in the 72nd minute. His efforts were to no avail, however, as Keșeru scored Steaua's fourth through a rebound following an excellent free kick from Sănmărtean that hit the crossbar. Stanciu had two chances to extend Steaua's lead, but his shot in the 87th minute was well saved by Veselovsky and his shot in the 92nd minute went just wide. The final whistle sealed Universitatea's 4-1 defeat.

Valentin Lemnaru made his return for "U" following an injury that he picked up during his time at Steaua and played his first minutes in Liga 1 this season after replacing Cristocea in the 76th minute. So far, Mușat has played the most whole matches in Liga 1 this season (10). Ninu saw his 4th yellow card of the season against Steaua and will be suspended in Universitatea's next match. 

Ogăraru's students will face Viitorul Constanța at home in the next round of Liga 1 on Saturday, October 25th at 18:30.
