Universitatea won their match away to Concordia Chiajna in the 3rd round of Liga 1 by a score of 2-0.

The first half didn't see many chances, in part due to the high temperatures during the game that affected the players' performance. Ninu put the ball into his own net under pressure from Maftei in the 21st minute only to have the goal called back due to a foul on the goalkeeper. The end of the first half saw the first chance of the game as Al. Stan hit the crossbar of Niculescu's goal.
 
Universitatea Cluj proved to be more pragmatic than their opponents in the second half as they scored on both of their chances. Nuno Viveiros scored his first goal for "U" in the 64th minute following a cross from Boutadjine and a rebound off the crossbar. Raul Costin got himself a goal as well in the 86th minute as his shot at the near post following a pass from Jovanovic went in. The final whistle marked "U"'s first win in Liga 1 this season.
 
Three defenders (Emil Ninu, Ioan Neag, Nicolae Mușat) and a midfielder (Raul Costin) have played every minute in each game "U" has played in Liga 1 this season. Ioan Neag is the only player to see yellow in each game, while the team as a whole has seen 11 yellow cards (an average of 3.66 per match). Half of the goals scored by Teja's players have been scored in the last 15 minutes of each game (between the 75th and 90th minute).
 
Next round, Universitatea Cluj will face FC Brașov at home on Monday, August 18th at 18:30.
