Universitatea Cluj faced Dinamo Bucharest in their first home game of the 2014-2015 Liga 1 season which they lost by a score of 2-3.

Univeristatea played most of the game in 10 men due to Veselovsky's sending off in the 6th minute because he fouled Matei. Following the sending off, Balaj gave a penalty that Matei scored. Tărnăcop (18th minute) and Boutajine (20th minute) tried to tie the game, but their shots weren't on target. "U" managed to equalize in the 25th minute when Emil Ninu headed Mușat's cross from a free kick. The last 15 minutes of the half saw Dinamo score two more goals through Lazăr (33rd minute) and Bilinski (45th minute) that made the halftime score 1-3. Universitatea tried to cut the 2 goal deficit throughout the second half. Their pressure paid off as Boutadjine headed the ball into the net following a cross from Raul Costin in the 82nd minute. The final whistle marked "U"'s first defeat this season.

Ioan Neag, Karim Boutadjine, Raul Costin, and Emil Ninu have played every minute in "U"'s first three games of the season (In Liga 1 and in the Adeplast League Cup). Two of "U"'s defenders, Ioan Neag and Petar Jovanovic, were yellow-carded in both matches in Liga 1.
