Universitatea Cluj lost the first friendly game played in Turkey, 0-1 against the Polish team of Lechia Gdansk.

The “Red Hats” au dominated most of the game, the only goal being scored in the 29th miute following a big error in Universitatea's defense.

Coach Ionut Badea started the game with Bornescu - Achim, Szukala, Galamaz, M. Muresan - Pacurar, Bostina, Popa - Cristescu - Grozav, Niculescu.

Cristescu (24th minute) and Niculescu (27th minute) had the biggest chances for "U" in the first half. Both almost scored with an overhead kick.

In the second half, "U" used Marius Popa, Hoban, Draghici, Ammendola, Kota Mizunuma, Pele, Abrudan, Moldovan and Neag but again the luck was not on our side. Incredible misses from Hoban (55), Ammendola (71) and Abrudan (84) kept the score at 0-1.

“We controlled the game and we did not take advantage of this situation. Anyway, this is the first friendly game in of this training camp and it is too eraly to draw conclusions. In the future, we will also be interested in the results of the games”, coach Ionut Badea said after the game.

"U" will play its next friendly game on Friday, January 27th, against Sturm Graz (Austria).
