Universitatea Cluj lost their match at home against CSU Craiova in the 8th round of Liga 1 by a score of 0-2.

At the start of the match, the crowd applauded Mihai Neșu as he was presented as the club's new video analyst.

The first half was marked by chances from both sides with Craiova creating the better opportunities. After Bălgrădean held Costin's shot in the 8th minute, Bawab saw his shot get blocked by Ciupe for a corner (10th minute). The 12th minute saw Costin and Mușat link up to create a chance for Boutadjine, who saw his shot saved by the away side's golie. Six minutes later, Gravenberch put a shot just over the crossbar following a cross from Mușat. Nuno Rocha hit the post in the 25th minute while his teammate Madson did the same from a free kick four minutes later. Before the end of the half, Gravenberch forced a save out of Bălgrădean from 25 yards out. A moment of silence was held at halftime in memory of the late Călin Zanc.

Three minutes after the start of the second half, Mușat deflected the ball into his own net following a cross from Nuno Rocha. The away side doubled their advantage 15 minutes later through Bancu, who scored at the far post. Tensions were high towards the end of the match as Eugen Pîrvulescu was sent off by the referee for dissent. In the 84th minute, Ciupe's shot from distance was saved by Bălgrădean for a corner before Brandan saw a second yellow in added time. The final whistle marked a victory for the away side. p

The supporters at the match called for Ogăraru, who commented that he was disappointed in the player's performance at his post-match press conference, to resign. 

After this round, Mușat remained "U"'s only player to have played every minute this season. Doru Bratu made his debut for "U" only to be subbed off for Emil Ninu 25 minutes into the match. Ionuț Neag and Raul Costin both picked up their third yellow cards this season and risk a one match suspension if they see a fourth.
