Universitatea Cluj lost their match in the 18th round of Liga 1 away to Dinamo București by a score of 3-0.

The start of the match saw Castillion recover an errant back pass from defender Nedelcearu only to see his shot saved by Naumovski. Ten minutes later, Nicuale set up Bilinksi, whose shot was well saved by Veselovsky for a corner. 

The home side continued to attack "U"'s goal as Niculae, Bilinski, and Lazăr had good chances in the 17th, 21st, and 23rd minutes, respectively. In the 27th minute, Dinamo scored through the very same Bilinski, who finished Elhamed's cross after Bambara was easily beaten on the wing. Towards the end of the first half, Škvorc came close to scoring an own goal as his block deflected the ball just wide of the "Red Caps"'s goal.

The second half started out balanced as Costin's long range effort went over the crossbar in the 50th minute while Bilinski's shot in the 64th minute was held by Universitatea's Slovakian goalie. Four minutes later, Lazăr doubled Dinamo's lead as he beat Veselovsky one on one. Universitatea were down to 10 men in the 75th minute when Bambara saw his second yellow of the game and was sent off. Neag's shot from the middle of the box (84th minute) and Ceppelini's cross (90th minute) both came to no avail as they were held by Naumovski. Even though Lazăr missed a chance to score a double in the first minute of added time, Bilinski scored for 2nd time in the match in the 90+3rd minute following a pass from Niculae, which made the final score 3-0.

In the week leading up the match, Vasilică Cristocea and Andrei Lungu were both sent to train with the second team due to disciplinary issues. Ogăraru wasn't able to use Gravenberch - suspended for a red card last match - and Mengolo - suspended for picking up too many yellow cards.

On Wednesday, March 4th at 21:30, the students will play away to their city rivals in the first leg of their Romanian Cup semifinal tie.
