Universitatea Cluj drew their match away to Viitorul Constanța in Chiajna in the 29th round of Liga 1 by a score of 1-1.
The first chance of the match came in the 10th minute when Nicoliță's cross was held by Universitatea's Slovakian goalie. "U"'s response came 2 minutes through Viveiros, whose free kick was held by Albuț. In the 16th minute, Henrique's header went just wide of "U"'s goal. Nine minutes later, Viverios' shot was held with some difficulty by the home side's goalie. Pană was quite active in the 1st half as his shots from 20 meters out in the 30th and 45+1st minutes were held by Veselovsky. Ciupe had to be subbed off and replaced by Jovanovic in the 31st minute due to an injury concern. Viverios tried his luck again in the 41st minute, but his shot was held by Albuț once more. As such, the first half finished 0-0.
The second half started with no important chances until Tănase's shot in the 64th minute was blocked by Lungu out for a corner. Three minutes later, Mengolo opened the scoring with a volley from 16 meters out following a poor clearance from Mitrea. It took the home side only 2 minutes to equalize, however, as Tănase's header beat Veselovsky. In the 84th minute, Universitatea's young striker Morar saw his free kick held by Albuț. The last chance for "U" came in injury time when Castillion was inches away from putting Morar's pass into the back of the net. The final whistle from Cojocaru sealed a 1-1 draw.
Mengolo's goal today puts him level with Viveiros in regards to goals scored this season as both have now scored four. "U"'s match against Viitorul was only their second match this season in which none of their players was carded.
Falub's squad's next match will be on Sunday, May 3rd at 18:30 when they will face Gaz Metan Mediaș at home in the 30th round of Liga 1.
