Universitatea Cluj's women's volleyball team won their home match on Saturday against CSM Lugoj in the 2nd round of the top flight. The match was bound to be a tightly contested one as both teams were looking for their first win of the season. The away side had to play well as they hardly did so in their first match of the season where they failed to come away with any points. Lugoj started out the better side as they took both sets (-22, -25), but the "students" had to win at all costs. Bringing on Alexandra Bara for Alexandra Ciontoș proved to be decisive as "U" managed to win the next three sets (13, 15, 8) as well as the game by a score of 3-2, which gave them their first points of the season.

The men's volleyball team managed by Romeo Lotei, on the other hand, recorded an emphatic win away to ProVolei Arad by a score of 3-0 in the first round of the 2nd divison. 

While the women's volleyball team, managed by Dănuț Ciontoș, is looking to win a spot in the playoffs, the men's volleyball team is hoping to gain promotion to the first division.
